Information about the Health Care Interpreter Certificate Program offered at the University of Memphis, School of Public Health, Memphis, TN
The Health Care Interpreter Certificate Program is a specialized training program, offered several times during the year, on two consecutive weekends. The next course is scheduled to be offered on September 18-19 and 25-26, 2010. The course is administered by the University of Memphis, Master of Public Health Program.

Hello everybody,
I would like to announce to you that, starting in January 2010 and continuing in February of 2010, the Univesity of Memphis, Program of Master of Public Health will offer again the Healthcare Interpreter Certificate Program, in a new format. On top of this, we will also be offering a one-day workshop to review for the National Medical Interpreter Certification Exam.
I will email that flyer also, The workshop will take place in January, before we start the Level I course.

TAMIT (Tennessee Association of Medical Interpreters and Translators) is TAPIT's sister organization. This Association is based in Memphis, Tennessee, the location of Tennessee's flagship University of Tennessee Medical School, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, and many other medical facilities.
TAMIT: WHO WE ARE
We are a group of healthcare interpreters and translators, students, educators, community leaders, healthcare administrators, language service company owners, and other interested parties who share TAMIT’s mission and objectives.
TAMIT’s MISSION
To promote excellence in professional healthcare interpreting and translation in West Tennessee.
OBJECTIVES
TAMIT seeks to increase the number of trained, qualified healthcare interpreters in Tennessee and neighboring states. Toward that end, we organize education and training workshops in interpreting.
TAMIT encourages decision makers, providers and consumers to use medical language services in accordance with recognized standards of practice.
TAMIT is a language services access clearinghouse for the community.
TAMIT collaborates with local, state, and national organizations, private enterprises and government agencies to advance its goals and objectives.
TAMIT supports and performs research regarding the profession.
